Bruce Monur (home nickname - Totosha)…
We knew him very long ago; he looked like a “fur-mitten”. Our home was the fifth for him. The story of his life is very sad. I’ll tell you a little now (though I want to make a page about him). His life was awful. We felt sorry for the unhappy animal so we took him to our house. He was sick, worn out and embittered. He didn’t trust people any more because of cruelty to him. And people said that that dog was very bad and he wouldn’t be able to take part in dog-shows. There was a great deal of truth in what they said but… Totosha is a real Lhasa Apso. He didn’t break. He was and is a strong spirit dog. He had never yielded to offenders. So it was very difficult for us to get on with him. He was very distrustful and aggressive. We couldn’t even cut his claws and comb his hair (coat). But Totosha realized very quickly that we love him. And we really do. We love him for his strong character and independence. And what about dog-shows? I can tell that at first everything wasn’t so well. And at his 1-st dog-show he tried to bite an expert, at the 2-d he growled when an expert wanted to examine him… I was ready to leave the show but the expert continued to examine Totosha and he got all titles and CACIB. The 3-d dog-show was the usual run of things for him. He stood still and let an expert touch him. But after the show don’t try to touch this dog! Totosha has a lot of rewards and titles: “The best male”, “The best specimen of the breed”, “The champion of RKF”, “The champion of Russia” and CACIB. Totosha is a real leader at home. He gives his females everything; he eats after them or doesn’t eat at all. He never provokes other dogs to fight and guards his pack. When Totosha came to our house he had a lot of traumas, injuries and was rather sick. I was sure that he would live 6-7 years. But now he is strong, healthy and nice. And I know that he’ll live as long as Lhasas do. He is only 11 years old now. Totosha has about 100 “children” (puppies) and a lot of “grandchildren” all over Russia. And nowadays he is the main sire in our country.
